I feel like between the comments on this board over the years, as well as…
the conversations I have had with avid BYU fans in person, most really have a mutual respect for the Zags, but they have a strong dislike for St Mary’s.
I would say I feel the same now. I’ve had several interactions with zags fans and seen games against the zags during the WCC tournament. This was the first year I’ve seen a game against St Mary’s, and interacted with their fans at all. Don’t really want to get into details, but I just didn’t enjoy the experience.
All that being said. St Mary’s has been better than us more often that not since we have been in the league, so they definitely deserve the bragging rights. As far as our feelings prior to joining the WCC, we were 8-2 against them, and coming off of Jimmer Mania. Why wouldn’t we think we would beat them most years?
