Saint Mary’s has trash fans, overall. I have been to many games in Moraga and
the fans always project their cheering to the opponents fans. Always made lots of insults about religion and whatnot.
On Monday, I was the game and was sitting next to the student section. Our fans were always cheering at the game. Doing chants to distract the players and effect the game, which is 100% what you should be doing.
The only SMC cheering from the fans (besides a made basket) was directed at us, the fans. During the 26 point lead, lots of SMC fans making jokes about getting beer and asking if we wanted any, and yelling at the students.
It’s one thing to jeer about ones team and the game, and another to make fun of one’s beliefs and lifestyle, totally separate from the game. Saw it many times over the years.
