Gaps vs. Defensiveness
I don't think the responses are driven by defensiveness in behalf of Kyle but rather the perceived gaps in the analysis. Ending an individual player possession does not always equate to ending a team's possession. Some of Kyle's possessions simultaneously ended BYU's possession (turnover or missed shots that wasn't rebounded). However, nearly 250 times Kyle's possessions ended with a high quality shot for a teammate (assist).

Another example: if Kyle drives, misses a shot on a contested drive but immediately puts it back was BYU less efficient than if he simply scored? I'd argue 'no'. Both scenarios equate to two points on one possession. Ideally, you'd show BYU's field goal percentage with and without Kyle on the floor. However, I expect that sample size is very low and skewed toward garbage time (non rotational players). If you factored in assists I think you'd get a more complete picture.
