RE: You said you analyzed data "for offensive production"
Good discussion - but again - really weird to hear you saying I said something I didn't - i.e. "implying the KC hurt the team by playing points guard is short sided"

Re-read the last post where I said:
"He was great at distributing, and running the team - he needed to do more of that, and less trying to take over the game - his shooting percentage and esp his FT shooting percentage simply weren't good enough to allow him to be a primary offensive option." That sounds like I'm encouraging more distribution - less shooting.

I also don't know why the 1.34 points per trip to the FT is considered good, he shot 65% from the line this year. For the team's number one volume free throw shooter that's simply poor. There's no other way to put it.

Again, I'm not trying to paint him as a bad player - he WAS the team MVP. He just shouldn't have been the primary scoring option.

Simply put a player that has the following stats:
65% FT shooter, 45% from the field, 25% from the 3 should NOT be the team's primary offensive option.

I totally agree and have stated more times than I feel like counting - that if you take him off the court, Everyone else's efficiency drops - but he needed to force it less - period.

One last point - you say that the streakiness of Fischer and Emery played a role in the meltdown against poor opponents. Well I analyzed the games that were losses. Collinsworth was the most streaky by far. Throwing out the LBSU debacle - because everyone stunk (efficiency of 0.2 all around) - Collinsworth had multiple games averaging under 0.5 PPP, and averaged 0.7 in the losses. Fischer had a miserable 0.2 against Colorado but otherwise both him and Emery averaged 0.9 in all losses. Not great numbers, but still over 20% better than Collinsworth who consumed 20% more possessions than either of them.

Really the only point that I'm trying to make is that I wish Collinsworth could have settled down, played more within himself and the offense and taken more what the defense gave him. The numbers strongly indicate that he forced things even when other team members were performing at a substantially higher efficiency level than he was. I think that's as much a product of the post-Jimmer Dave Rose offense as anything, but since 2010 there have been no championships, rankings, tourney wins, etc - and every year since 2010 we've had a primary scoring option shooting in the 0.8 efficiency range. (i.e one player trying to be a star and force things he shouldn't.) I believe there's a corollary there. Let the efficient players score, let the distributors distribute, etc. We don't need to replicate a Jimmer style hero.
