When BYU's possessions were ended by KC (shot, free throw, turnover) BYU saw fewer points per possession. True from what you report.
However, without including assists as a part of the possession's termination I expect that you miss a LOT of the effectiveness of KC and for that reason I am uncomfortable with the conclusion you made in the OP "Kyle is the last player on the current roster, and the last starter on the roster in recent memory that you would want with the ball in his hands at the end of the game."
How many points would Kaufusi have scored this year without Collinsworth there to set him up? Or Seljass? How much more efficient would KD have been if he weren't the only player on the team capable of scoring while playing with his back to the basket? Or if he were a better free throw shooter (which is definitely something that can be worked on)?
