heard was from my close friend who is a big Ute fan. In 2008, he saw some drunk tailgaters harassing and throwing drinks at a family of BYU fans who were on their way to the game, causing the young son to start crying. My friend says that he verbally intervened and the tailgaters then threatened to beat him up. Because I know him so well and because he is such an ardent Ute fan, I believe the story.

Here's the thing, though: I'm not sure it's fair to say that those guys were really Utah fans. According to my friend, they were still in the same spot when he left the game early and they weren't even listening to or watching the game, but were blasting butt rock and still drinking.
