Similar Experience
We took our son the BYU bball camp a few years ago and felt it was really a waste of time. Coach Rose spoke with them one day and a couple of players spoke with them for a few minutes each other than that it was just BYU students coaching the teams and running the camp. No interaction at all with players or coaches. They divided into teams and had a tournament with little coaching, my son had a kid on his team that was not great but dribbled down and shot almost every possession, no coaching to change that. Not a great experience.

The next year he went to two camps as Weber State both we very well run, the head coach was involved with every aspect the Weber State players were the coaches. My son loved it, in fact we drove from Idaho to watch Weber State play a couple of times because he felt a connection to the players. Plus the camp focused mostly on skill development rather than just scrimmage.
