was a dominant team while Peterson was there and are still a very good football team. What I DID say was that there is a cap on Boise's accomplishments as long as they play a MWC/WAC schedule. History shows this is a fact. They went undefeated during the regular season 4 times in 7 years. Not once did they get a sniff at a national championship. Half the time they didn't even get invited to the big boy bowl games.
Going to play in the MWC is not a benefit to the BYU football program. Boise has proven that. If we want to play an easier schedule to have a better chance of winning all our games, there's nothing preventing us from doing that as an independent. Just drop half the P5 teams from our schedule and replace them with AAC/MWC/WAC/Sun Belt teams. If and when we finally start putting good teams back on the field, we can churn out records like Boise and still be in a financially better position.
If we do that though, there will still be a cap on how far we could go. If we play a dumbed down schedule, we're not going to ever sniff the chance for a playoff when we have that once in a lifetime season.
