A NY6 bowl gives a significant payout (that you would have to split with your 10 or 12 closest friends who share your G5 conference with you), and marginally more national attention than the lesser bowls.
In today's world of college football, the only "bowl" games that actually count and mean anything are the semi-final playoff games, and the national championship game.
