I'd advocate a step further. Forget the "why" (too easy to look at simplistic reason that miss the mark) and
focus on finding alternatives for coping with challenges. Looking for the why is like a dog chasing its tail-- leads no where. We also run the serious risk of coming to simply reason that then lead others with similar struggles to think it was justified when that person did it so they would be justified too. It's far too complex to run that risk but there are always better ways to cope and find the support needed to get through the dark time. That should be our focus.
