I could tell you SO many stories about bad teachers being protected by a

the union. If a district moves to fire a teacher it's a VERY lengthy process (about 3 years) of write-ups, meetings, goal setting, etc.. Then, if they show ANY progress it starts over. It's near impossible to fire a veteran teacher unless they commit the three deadly sins that I posted above. But, teachers and their unions developed the firing process. It protects them from vindictive administrators.
