If that happened nationwide you know wages would go up.
Yet the article didn’t mention kids being sent home due to no teachers being available. There are still enough teachers willing to work at that wage to keep the doors open. I don’t see how that story, sad as it is, disproves supply and demand. For instance, when I was on the school board the state gave us permission to pay a new shop teacher 5K over their set wage because otherwise we couldn’t fill the position and would have been forced to close the program.
