But the travel time is a grind for the kids and takes it out of them. It also takes away from developmental time. It’s 4-5 hours where they could be doing extra work. Plus they are just more fatigued. For example if my kid was a baseball guy I would say that time working on fundamentals woukd trump
the competition factor. So it is super sport dependent.
Also depends on whether the kid can be productive with homework in the car
Then there is also the danger in driving esp on winter and at night when the parent is exhausted at 10 pm (for example I would never let my 17 year old kid do that drive frequently because of that)
Then there is the factor of neglecting other kids. That got hard when our third get older as the older 2 were the ones we were focusing on
