Better than his own. That's also a lot less driving time and less chance of burnout. If he's really good as a freshman on varsity he will get exposure. Coaches will call and he will be found. A good high school coach will call college coaches and schools to talk about him and get him a chance.  

AAU isnt worth it unless you are already the best of the best and already have a ton of exposure. It doesnt get you much new exposure unless he just dominates everybody and becomes THE guy on a super team.
