People are called to fill positions, and they accept the calling as a duty, not because they REALLY want to do it. Outside of the church, scout leaders are self chosen and generally really want to be engaged. This makes a big difference.

I say this not judging - please, heaven knows I have usually been on the side of accepting a scout calling out of duty. When I was called to be the 11 year old leader (not doing this anymore), I was not excited at all and cursed the entire way home. But, I grew to really love leading this part of the program, and I was bummed when they released me a few months back.
