Kyle has a "great eye for talent"
in certain positions but QB is not one of them. For example, this year Wynn is by far the best QB the Utes have and he isn't all that good. Norm Chow has been able to hide the fact that Kyle had no clue that "athletes" don't necessarily translate into college level QB's, by running the ball nearly every play. I do agree with you that Kyle is very good at recruiting defensive players and "Athletes", but Bronco has a leg up on recruiting offensive players. Chase Hansen is a stud and an all around "athlete" but he knew what kind of talent was coming into BYU at the position he desires most to play in college and made a very wise choice in the school he will attend. I have a feeling Wilson will win the head to head with Chase at QB because I believe he is the better quarterback and plus Norm Chow was the one that landed him.

Personally I think Bronco is better at recruiting QB's, TE's, OL, DL and LB'rs. The system and tradition give us the leg up on QB's and TE's, plus it seems like BYU has never been short of the "Big Uglies" on the O-line too. DL is extremely close between the two coaches but I would have to site the head to head for Jan Jorgensen and Troy Hinds plus the U's current DL actually signed with Bronco but didn't academically qualify so they eventually ended up at the U (Star and Aiona). I could be completely wrong about the DL because the U is also very strong there each year. LB's BYU has traditionally been very good at recruiting and each year lands or is in contention with landing one of the nations top. Correct me if I'm wrong but Uona, Manti, and guys like Cam Jensen and Nixon were recruited heavily by OU and LSU. I guess I should have said out side LB's for the most part.

The Utes on the other hand clearly out recruit in DB's, special teams, and guys labeled "athletes". When it comes to speed and JUCO guys the Utes have always had great success. Just looking at the past few years nearly half of their recruits are solid JUCO ballers.

For what it's worth I had a mission companion that played TE for both of Urban Meyers years and Kyles first year and he told me "Utahs defensive success is because of the system they have running it, and that is why you won't see a real difference between any of the different DC's running it. This isn't a slight to Coach Anderson, Sitaki or even Coach Whit but it was actually Kyles dad that developed it and set it in motion."

*I included DE's with the DL if you didn't notice, even though Bronco is now technically running a 3-3-4.
