It's two different systems. Bronco's system caters to LBs and tries to pressure with LBs while having the down lineman hold the edges and rushing lanes. The Utes pressure well with four and depend on their secondary to hold up in coverage. We pressure poorly and hope the other team makes a mistake more often than not. Bronco used to be more aggressive earlier in his career.
I think you and I are argueing two different points. I think BYU gets a lot of talent and it isn't realized to the extent it could be due to poor coaching, while I think Utah coaches up their guys better and gets them ready for the NFL better. Utah's recent success in putting offensive/defensive lineman in the league is better than ours.
I do think we recruit better linebackers as a whole, but I think there's a decent disparity between the line positions. If you want to get in to recruiting, yes, we might get higher rated recruits, but they don't seem to pan out to the extent that Kyle's guys do.
