I can relate to the comment about steering kids to BYU. For years I praised BYU to my kids. My daughters wanted nothing but BYU. But my son has made it clear he wants to make his own independent decision. I started to sense that he was pushing BYU away. So, I stopped discussing BYU and only highlighted the positives of the other schools to which he’s applied. Kind is a reverse psychology I guess.
