All you have to do is walk into both indoor facilities and it is....
glaringly obvious. Utah's doesn't even have a 100 yd field in it, it is only 90 yards long. BYU's actually makes Utah's look bad in comparison. And that is not just my opinion, just in the last month our HS team played in both schools 7 on 7 tourneys and played on both of their outdoor practice fields and their indoor facilities. Like any HS team there are kids and families that are fans of both schools, in fact we have some pretty die hard Ute fans on our team and I am friends with the parents, guys I've actually coached with, and they made that observation on their own, BYU's indoor facility is much nicer than Utah's. All you've gotta do is walk through the two of them and it's obvious. And your numbers on BYU's are way off, I contracted work on both and am familiar with the costs.

Where I thought Utah's were nicer was the medical and training portions of their football center. Being newer they were able to incorporate some things into it that probably weren't being done when BYU built theirs. But at that it is mostly a matter of aesthetics to be honest, BYU's contains all of the amenities Utah's were just more pleasing to the eye and a bit more spacious, they are very nice and well done.

Honestly that is the only facility we toured, and we toured all of the athletic facilities, that I would give Utah a clear edge over BYU. There were some things I liked better, but that was just a preference thing not that they was necessarily better. I really liked the student athlete "fueling centers" at Utah. There are two of them and basically they are places on campus where any of the student athletes can go to "fuel up", basically eat. They contain a couple of things, a bank of fridges that look like the dairy sections of a supermarket with glass doors that are filled with things like yogurt, cheeses, fruit, milk, juices, protein drinks and basically fuel foods. It's a wide selection of stuff much more than I can list here. They also have a counter where they can eat, for instance if they go to one of them at breakfast they'll make them omelettes, pancakes, etc, or they can just get cereal if they want it. If they go to one of them at lunch they can get a sandwich or a salad, soup, pasta, whatever. Those were actually an awesome amenity which we were very impressed with. And that is at no cost to the student athletes, they can go by whenever they want and grab some food. They call them "fueling stations" and they were great.

But once again most of it is very comparable between the two schools, the fallacy of Utah's being much nicer is just that, a fallacy.
