Unless taking the BYU job puts him at a severe disadvantage going forward
For a promising up and coming coach it makes a lot of sense why he would pass on BYU and wait for an opportunity without the system limitations and potential to kill his career.
Very few coaches have gone on from BYU to have success. Outside of Bronco and company they've been more likely to get out of football entirely.
