Yes, I understood what you said in your OP. I once lived the California dream, so I understand how Prop 13 works.
I was just saying that the previous owner would have also paid double last year compared to what he actually paid, if not for Prop 13.
Anyway, there are a bunch of positives of living in CA, so focus on enjoying those. The negatives (including all those taxes) are what they are. Make the positives outweigh them.
