Just the liberal side of the aisle is much larger than the conservative one here. That notwithstanding, California real estate prices keep escalating. Something is going right in California. Prop 13 keeps people from losing their homes as they get older and their income drops relative to what their property tax would be if it were raised every year. If their property was being re-assessed every year like in Utah, imagine the flood of wealthy Californians into less expensive states like Utah. You can count your blessings for prop 13 if you don't like California move-ins and the increase in home values Utah's seeing. Frankly with those increases Utah should be considering something like Prop 13.
