One point missed. Playing time.
Some kids move for playing time. What if you are a good QB but the same grade as Isaac Wilson at CC? You could be a D1 prospect or JC prospect but won’t play. You are toast and won’t play. Why not go to a school where you can play? Go to Brighton, Alta etc. I have not issue going where you can put yourself in the best position to better yourself.

Additionally what if you are a year behind Isaac Wilson? Maybe start 1 year or go to a Brighton and start 2-3 years and get more opportunities. We all know CC, Skyridge, Timpview etc recruit. Things change and shift.

Back east they are strict on boundaries, huge part of the value of the home is the access to a public school (rich areas with great schools next to blue collar areas with worse schools). The battle is private schools that recruit and offer scholarships (financial based like the Ivy’s), we are deciding what to do as I have a child getting recruited now (huge check but better access to everything). Academics are off the charts everywhere but it more about the right coach, access to facilities and fit…championships is lower on the priority list as all provide opportunities.

Utah has very few real private school competitors for talent. Thus I am not opposed to kids going where they have opportunities…not just for sports but academics, theater etc.

I wish Utah had real private schools like other states. It would be a game changer for many.
