your list leaves out almost a dozen high schools in Utah County because they aren't good despite having all these resources you suggest.
Ever been to Farmington? Do you even know where that is? Talk about Money. Don't tell me there isn't money at Woods Cross. There's old money in Bountiful. Like, a full mountain range of 20+ million dollar homes money from rich lawyers who once lived in California and sold during the bubble money. Davis high has money.
I'm telling you because I know. Not because I'm guessing. Kids in Davis County don't transfer to the better high school teams because they'd rather die. But a kid transferring to Orem from Timpview baseball? It happens all the time. Put all the kids from WX, Bountiful and Viewmont on the same team and I'm they'd clean up shop on Utah county power teams.
But those kids at those schools would rather get in a debilitating car accident before even considering switching teams. And their parents sure as heck aren't going to go out of their way to understand transfer rules and make sure their boy gets on the best team so he can get 'playing time.'
I'm sorry you don't think the state or UHSAA should do something about it. My knee-jerk reaction is that's because you benefit from it some way or another. But I don't and that's because I live in Davis County.
