Sure, dentists make good money and can do less work than engineers do. However, if engineering really does fit your personally then you need intellectual stimulation and need the thrill of solving meaningful problems (not routine work in peoples' mouths or spending much of your time dealing with problems from people sucking at life). If you get fulfillment from your job, make enough money to comfortably support your family now and into the future, and have a reasonable work-life balance, then I'd say you made the right choice. If not, then you might consider looking for a better engineering job...
