No I'm not.
The post I was responding to proposed spending more money (by way of further subsidy via tithing) on BYU football. That is unacceptable to me for the reasons I listed above. I agree, like I said, if BYU football needs money it should come from non tithing sources, like budget cuts or other fundraising. Also, from profit angle I doubt football is a big money loser. I bet football is in the black, but the requirements of title 9 make athletics overall a financial liability. So that's something that people need to realize you can't just pour money into the football program. Every dollar you want to spend on BYU football needs a matching dollar for women's athletics. Every dollar you save through cuts to other men's athletics goes straight to BYU football if you want.

I'm sure the church has plenty of money and could make BYU athletics the envy of all universities, but that is poor stewardship of those resources. Every other AD and university (with few exceptions, Ohio State and Texas actually give money back to their schools, but they are the exceptions) have to make tough budgetary choices so does BYU.
