It's not rejecting the best and brightest. Just because you have a 32/4.0 does
not mean you're the best and brightest and would be the most successful and best representative of BYU. They are finally beginning to focus on creating well-rounded and diversified classes. They are looking beyond the straight statistics. It's about time. Now, I wish they woudl implement an interview process (alumni interviews).

There are plenty of 3.7/29 kids that would be better fits for BYU than a few of the 4.0/32 kids. They should look more hollistically, and they are beginning to do so.

My opinions are based on a direct interview with an admissions director that has been there for 25 years. He was commenting on the significant cahnge of direction under the new admissions director. He said the changes in the admissions process underway are the most significant he's seen in all the years he's been there.
