It isn't punishing scholastic achievement. It is considering more than just

scholastics. It clearly takes more than just good grades and good test taking skills to succeed in life. Why should BYU not consider other non-scholastic points in admissions, if their goals is to bring in, nurture and build future leaders? BYU ihas  differnt aim than an Ivy League or military academy. They consider things important to BYU and to the LDS church that are unimportant to other schools.
