I have been to BYU presentations multiple times. You can also call and talk to someone in the admissions/recruiting areas. If you ask them they are quite clear that a number of things are important to them and scholastic achievement and good testing are AMONG the important things, but the most important is a good rounded individual... Someone who is intersted and succeeds in many things... Extra curricular activities, seminary, church, sports, clubs, hobbies, outside interests, scouts, leadership, work, volunteering, writng ability... They are looking for people that will succeed and help the church succeed. They will actually tell you that a perfect 4.0 is a turn-off. They do not want someone that is laser focussed on grades. They also will tell you that super tough classes, AP classes, college equivalent classes are abit of a turn-off (I found that strange). If you know someone that wants to go to BYU, they need to build a "resume" of a wide variety of activities and leadership and interests, not just "school" success.
