Yes, they are talking about a DIFFERENT investment strategy than the one

I described, and then are saying that that DIFFERENT strategy refutes what I said.

All they had to say is "of course everything you said is right, but there are select properties that you can make more on than you can in the S&P500 if you know what you're doing or if you get lucky, and I've got a few, but that isn't scalable because what you said about the median property is 100% right".
