Ok, fair enough, but that seems like a pretty meaningless comparison to make
Looking at median real estate appreciation vs median equity appreciation doesn't really tell you anything. I don't think you'd get anybody to disagree with you that putting $20k in the stock market and sitting on it for 50 years is much better than buying a house for $20k and sitting on it for 50 years.

But individual real estate investors don't buy a single unleveraged property and sit on it for 50 years. And what they do to earn a higher return wouldn't scale to a billion dollar fund. So it's kinda dumb to say that stocks are better than real estate from your median evaluation of those two investment vehicles. That's what people disagreed with. Maybe you weren't saying that stocks are better for individual investors than real estate, but that wasn't clear from your post.
