Going to your bishop is what works. Bishops do not have to report everything the the HC office, they are concerned with helping the sinner to repentance. Think of Hadley, he was suspended for a couple games, but he was not kicked out of school. Same with Davies. The earlier you reach out to get help, the easier it is to help. I am positive that there are many, many issues that are never heard of outside the bishop's office. Not only that, I guarantee even Bronco knows more about his players than the HC office. Not because they are hiding anything from them, but because they are working with individuals to help them become their best selves.
The problem really comes when these players don't tell anyone or don't work with anyone and then a public source gets a hold of the info. Then the school has their hands tied in a lot of ways.
So, the real answer is, talking with your bishop and coaches will help you. Not talking to anyone will make the situation worse.
