Students are in the same boat.
I guess that's the main issue I have with Honor Code enforcement. It would seem there is little room for repentance in it. I think extra leniency should be give to those that come forward on their own seeking help.

It's one thing to get caught sinning and another to seek help on your own. Of course, I've never heard of anybody walking into the Honor Code office on their own asking to be punished. But there have been plenty of cases where a student went to the Bishop seeking help and was ultimately referred to the Honor Code office for academic discipline.

In the case of a non-LDS athlete it is even more difficult. Who would they go to? Who locally handles the ecclesiastical endorsement?
