That's what I've always felt was the glaring weakness of the HC. It is currently
designed in a way that actually discourages repentance or seeking help with other problems because it creates severe temporal consequences for actions that someone not subject to the HC wouldn't face. I'm not trying to justify being dishonest or covering up a mistake; I'm just saying that the HC creates more incentive to do that than a student (LDS or not) would face anywhere else.
