Ask someone who has been through substance abuse
at BYU. Ask them if they felt trapped. Ask them if they felt like coming forward with their problems was a viable option. Ask them if they feel that the honor code will consider their individual situation. Ask them if they would have gotten help if they felt like it was a viable alternative. The fact is that the people that don't self report don't feel like they have a choice because in their minds the potential consequences heavily outweigh the benefit.
