Not the current honor code "system". The problem with the HC is with how it is
the HC is enforced. The HC office entitles the self righteous crowd to tattle on anything they see out of place.
What you suggested is how it SHOULD be taken care of. Through proper priesthood leadership and/or ecclesiastical endorsements. If the ecclesiastical leader is working with them and is willing to endorse them based on the specifics of the letter, the HC office should stay out of it. So should the football team.
