The guy he replaced won a national championship and five consecutive conference championships before turning the program over to 2J. 2J then won one conference championship in the next six years if I remember right. 2J lost more games then his predecessor despite coaching 2 less years.
The program clearly took a major step back under 2J. Yet people on here think he's would be a great candidate.
Put me in the camp of wanting to know who the better options are before we get rid of bronco. I have yet to see any names that are active lds, have successful head coaching experience and would likely be interested.
For other schools, plenty of candidates fit this criteria because they don't have to worry about the lds part. This isn't the case for byu.
