RE: Why fire a winning coach unless you can get someone else who will win more?
As long as you are ok with 8-10 win seasons and being the third place team in the state, and the occasional year we get beat up on by a bunch of mid-levels we probably shouldn't fire him. Anyone who wants to go to the next level has to assume some degree of risk.

But to answer your questions let me give you a few reasons.

1) Promotion of Hill
2) Promotion of Doman
3) Promotion of Howell
4) Record against Utah
5) Record against Utah State
6) Loses more games that we should win as opposed to winning games we should lose
7) Like it or not a poor record and poor showings (that we often have with Bronco) may not guarantee ESPN renews our contract
8) Failure to get us to the next level

As long as you are happy with mediocre seasons and a winning record, Bronco is the best coach on the planet. As a fan, I am not ok with moral victories. I think Bronco was great but what has he done for the program lately? Saying lets keep Bronco because of winning records, is the same as saying "lets don't try to go undefeated". If you want to go undefeated you have to say, bye bye Bronco because he will never get the team there.
