Murdock and Burgess, lets compare the three.
Murdock - 4 PPG 33 FG% 29 3p% 2.4 A/TO ratio
Burgess - 9 PPG 45 FG% 42 3p% 1.3 A/TO ratio
Fredette - 7 PPG 40 FG% 34 3p% 1.5 A/TO ratio
I hope you aren't arguing that a Fredette should have played in front of Burgess. Now you could make the argument that Murdock was awful and he was. But look at the numbers, Jimmer shot a better %, but still shot a poor %. And Jimmer assist to TO ratio was terrible for a point guard. In fact, Jimmer had only 11 less TO then Murdock, despite playing 300 less minutes.
This team needed a point guard that would distribute, not one that was going to shoot a lot at low percentages and turn it over almost as often as he dished it.
You evidence DR was holding Jimmer back is the Texas AM game? Sure he was one of the only guys who stepped up and played decently. But it was one game and lets look at his line.
Fredette - played 34 min - 36 FG% 25 3p% 3 assist and 0 TO.
His A/TO was the best thing about this game. You aren't going to win a game with those shooting %'s. Mike Rose had one good tournament game as well, in fact much better then Jimmer's. Is that evidence that Rose should have built the team around him?
