It sounds like a reasonable trade off. If the hours you gained by not working

the extra hours justify the lack of bonus, it’s a wash. You do need to factor the relationship with your boss and your dependability into the equation as well. If you are early in your career and see yourself at this company long term, you may want to build more good will and put in the extra hours.
