Good advice. This is the way. And I agree with others, no bonus means first on

chopping block if layoffs occur. We just went through this exercise at my employer. The guys that underperformed didn't get bonuses and they will be the first cut when the time comes. You can only control what you can control, no sense in worrying about anything else outside of your power/influence.
