families are willing to shell out over $200,000 over four years to attend our institution. A top-notch, private, teaching-focused college education is NOT cheap. Tuition at BYU for an LDS student is just over $5,000 a year. The LDS Church is paying a HUGE cost to educate every LDS student at BYU. You don't get to have an institution pay for your education and at the same time denounce it. Pretty straightforward, but in our victim mentality culture, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that straightforward very quickly becomes twisted and lost.
