same apply to non-members who attend? If I'm a baptist when I apply to BYU, and then I quit my faith, maybe convert to another faith, say, Islam, are there any repercussions?

I doubt it, but I don't know. I think this is a Mormon-specific thing, rooted in the belief that there is something uniquely sinful about having your name removed.
