Unless BYU wants to pony up the landlords should not be shamed or expected
to give in to this. Students are the most sheltered from all of this. Student loan interest is waived and it’s not like they have to make those payments right now anyway. The only way I see a landlord needing to reduce or forgive rent is if they are having their debt reduced or or forgiven as well. They may be able to defer payments but they will still have to pay.

Landlords have mortgages, sometimes huge mortgages, that they have taken out to provide that housing. Hence contracts.
