It is the BYU housing landlord’s problem in that case because the terms of the BYU housing contract
Allow the student out of the contract due to an unforeseeable and unexpected serious illness, which I’m pretty sure a global pandemic that shut down the school would qualify.
Landlord would get to keep the deposit though.
