It's pretty useless since those apartments will all get filled regardless for
the next school year. Students still need somewhere to live come fall semester. Coronavirus won't keep schools closed forever. And no, the landlords dont have to offer any sort of compromise if they don't want to. The students should fulfill the contracts they signed. If some landlord decides to let students out of leases or give discounted rent that is their prerogative. However there is no moral imperative for them to do so. Also, the whole "BYU housing is a monopoly" is bogus and has been thoroughly debunked in this thread.
