somewhere other than BYU and hearing something negative about the church from a professor will likely react differently than if a professor at BYU is trying to undermine faith. When it comes from a BYU professor, the student's guard is likely to be down and they'll listen without as much skepticism. They're also more likely to think, "Hmm. If even a BYU professor is saying this . . ." You and I understand that there is nothing about being a BYU professor that magically exempts them from being incorrect in criticizing the church. But college age kids might not get that as clearly.
