In my field (medicine) the only degree people care about is the last one you get

College, med school, internship, residency, fellowship. Go as far as you want, but all anyone really cares about is the last place you trained.
I would assume engineering is similar.

So, if grad school is in the plans, then an undergrad degree from BYU will likely not harm her, and the BYU experience can be life changing.

It is the same in engineering. No one cares at all about your undergrad degree if you got a masters or PhD.
