Instead, it’s probably highly skewed toward the quality of a school’s graduate programs (where BYU is arguably relatively weaker).
That being said, schools known more for engineering probably have better alumni networks for getting jobs with either an undergraduate or post graduate degree.
And if someone is interested in pursuing a graduate engineering degree, I think a BYU undergraduate engineering degree can still open many doors. I have an undergraduate Chem E. degree from BYU and the the top students in my graduating class had ample opportunities to attend the most prestigious graduate engineering schools in the country if they so chose.
