There were a few problems with a P16. P10 presidents didn't want Ok St, TTech,

or Baylor. Would they have taken one or possibly even 2 to get OU, Texas, and aTm? Probably. All 3 was a pretty big stretch. The other problem was that there was no wat aTm was ever coming. No chance. They were all in for the SEC, and wanted to get away from Texas. The chances of ever getting to 16 were extremely small, especially without Utah being included as one of the 16.
